Suggest a Series for Spring

Postby ChibiBritt » Wed Dec 14, 2011 5:36 pm

Hiya!

So over the break the officers watch a giant magical list of anime series. From this list we pick out what will end up on the awesome Member's Series ballot.

So, here is your chance to suggest a FEW series that you think we should look into.

IF YOU CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO READ AND FOLLOW THE RULES, WE PROBABLY WON'T PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR POST!

Here are the rules:

- Series can be from 6-26 eps. No more or we can't finish it!

- Series with more than one season is ok ONLY if it still fits into the 26 max number of eps rule

- We try to go with series that would be liked by as many people in MEK as possible. If it's a really niche show...it probably doesn't have much luck.

Keep in mind whatever people post may not make it on the ballot. As much as we would love to watch everything under the sun, we just can't.

Now go Kappas! Post with all your might!

PS - This probably won't be up for too long, so get those suggestions in quickly!
I make weird sounds come out of my mouth for a living.

Hmm...let's try a few series I think are good, but possibly not as well-known as others:

Break Blade
Image
Length: 6 episodes, 50 minutes each
Summary: The inhabitants of the continent of Cruzon are born with the ability to freely control quartz. Technology based on this power allows them to perform a great multitude of tasks such as shoot projectiles and pilot mobile suits (called Golems in this society). Rygart Arrow is an un-sorcerer, a rare individual who is unable to levitate even the smallest crystal. Living with his brother on a farm, he receives a letter from an old friend, Hodr, the current king. Close companion of the king and queen when they were students at Assam Military School, Arrow is informed that a war is about to occur. Hodr called him because an ancient type of Golem has been found in a mining shaft. No one has been able to move it and Queen Sigyn, an expert engineer, suspects that maybe an un-sorcerer might be the key to activate it.

Shingu: Secret of the Stellar Wars
Image
Length: 26 episodes
Summary: The day after an apparent alien invasion of Tokyo is repelled by a mysterious being, middle schooler Murata Hajime discovers that his small town holds a strange secret when he witnesses transfer student Subaru Muryou fight another student using psychic powers. Since Hajime himself is relatively new to his town, he has been unaware that the leading families have been protecting the earth from alien invasion for centuries by using the ability of "Shingu," and that the current members of the middle school student council are also the chosen guardians of this generation. He also begins to discover that many of the town's residents are in fact intergalactic diplomats. Hajime is drawn futher into this open secret as his friendship with Muryou and the "chosen" teenagers -- especially tomboy Moriyama Nayuta -- deepens and as he begins to discover that he has a role to play in Earth's future.

Tytania
Image
Length: 26 episodes
Summary: In a future where mankind is scattered across the stars, the Empire of Valdana is under the control of the Tytania clan, which forged its influence through intimidation and economic might. In the year 446, Tytania dispatches a large fleet to seize a new piece of technology from the city-state of Euriya. Much to everyone's surprise, Euriya decides to resist and wins. Their isolated act of rebellion sets into motion a sequence of events that strains the careful alliances and treaties within the empire as various factions seek to exploit the situation to their own advantage. In the ensuing turmoil, ambitious members of the Tytania nobility begin moving against each other in an effort to settle old grievances and seize control of the clan. What started as an act of rebellion by Euriya, quickly expands into a civil war – with the wealth and power of the empire up for grabs to whoever is bold enough to seize it.

Macademi Wasshoi!
Image
Image
Length: 12 episodes
Summary: Magician's Academy revolves around Takuto Hasegawa, who attends a magic academy that is not marked on any map. During a summoning spell exam, he accidentally creates a girl named Tanarotte, who happens to hold enough magical power to destroy his country. The universe separated in three worlds: Heaven, the Human World (Earth), and the Demon Realm. The Gods & Demons are not seen fighting among themselves in the human world and try to keep their existence a secret from them. The human world is the only source of entertainment and enlightenment to both the demons and the gods to the point of smuggling human goods to both realms.

Working!! & Working'!!
Image
Length: 2 13-episode seasons, for 26 total episodes
Summary: Set in a family restaurant in Hokkaido, the northern prefecture of Japan, 16-year-old high school student Takanashi Souta works part-time along with his strange co-workers: Taneshima Popura, a high school girl who's a year older than Souta who's easily mistaken for a elementary/middle schooler, Mahiru Inami, a timid girl who can't help but hospitalize any guy who gets too near, and Shirafuji Kyoko, the 28-year-old store manager who doesn't bother to do any work at all.

And I would suggest Sakigake!! Otokojuku, but alas, it is 34 episodes long...

Persona 4: The Animation
Image

Length: 25 Episodes.
NOTE: This is still a recent on-going series, but a new episode is consistently released every Thursday, and the final episode will be aired on March 23rd. The most recent episode is Episode 11. I'm not sure if this disqualifies the series from submission, but I might as well try anyway!

Summary: When Yu Narukami moves to the rural country town of Inaba, he’s expecting a lot more peace and quiet than he’s been used to in the big city. Instead, the peace has been shattered as a rash of mysterious murders and kidnappings sweep the countryside. With the police stymied, Yu finds himself joining with a group of eight other teenagers in a desperate bid to solve the mystery, discovering hidden powers within themselves as they explore the mysterious world inside the television.

Boku wa Tomadachi ga Sukunai

Image

Summary: Hasegawa Kodaka has transferred schools, and he's having a hard time making friends. It doesn't help that his blond hair tends to make people think he's a delinquent. One day, he runs into his bad-tempered solitary classmate Yozora while she's talking animatedly to her imaginary friend Tomo. Realizing that neither of them have any actual friends, they decide that the best way to alter this situation is to form a club and start recruiting.

That is how "Rinjinbu", The Neighbours' Club, was formed, a club specifically designed for people who don't have very many friends. As other lonely classmates slowly join their little club, they'll try to learn how to build friendships through cooking together, playing games, and other group activities. But will this group of relationship-challenged misfits really be able to get along?

Steins;Gate

Image

Summary: Steins;Gate is about a group of friends who have customized their microwave into a device that can send text messages to the past. As they perform different experiments, an organization named SERN, who has been doing their own research on time travel, tracks them down and now the characters have to find a way to avoid being captured by them.

It is one of my favorite animes since I love anything that deals with time-travel. The first 12 episodes focus on the group of friends testing out the microwave, but afterwards something goes terribly wrong and they must redo the past.

Bakemonogatari

Image

Summary: The story centers on Koyomi Araragi, a third year high school student who has recently survived a vampire attack, and finds himself mixed up with all kinds of apparitions: gods, ghosts, myths, and spirits. The movie, which will be a prequel will come out in 2012. A sequel anime is also planned for 2012 release.

Kanon

Image

Summary: As a young child, Aizawa Yuuichi had often visited his cousin in the city. However, something drastic happened to keep him away for seven long years. Now, Yuuichi returns, his memories of those days are simply gone.

Settling into the wintry town, Yuuichi comes across several young girls, all of whom are connected to his past. As he befriends them and continues to interact with them, the long forgotten memories from his childhood begin to resurface...

When I hear this series, it brings back memories during my high school years when I barely started watching anime. Kanon was one of my favorites.

That's enough for now. I'll post more when I can think of some.
