Sumi-e Workshop
Sumi-e is the Japanese art of monochromatic ink and watercolor painting. The intricacies can take a lifetime to master, but the first steps take only minutes.

When 6 of our members spent a year Studying Abroad in Japan, 5 of them enrolled in the brush painting course offered. On the first day, the professor told them to spread the art as much as they could, and now that they're back, they want to spread it to UNT!

Announcements and fliers will be posted with more detailed information when the time for the first workshop has been chosen.
MEK will offer 1 - 2 Sumi-e workshops per semester. While the exact format and times have not yet be determined, here is some preliminary information:

- At least 3 traditional forms will be taught:
  • Bamboo
  • Orchid
  • Plum/Cherry Blossoms

- Sumi-e requires some specialized materials, which will be provided

- MEK members will have either a reduced materials fee or none at all
